The meat isn't all that hard to farm, especially if there is a 2x harvesting over the weekend. And as others have said, pick a dino that will be very useful for you to have an imprint with such as a good gatherer (anky/doed) or if you have the ability to get a decent amount of meat see about getting a rex egg from someone if you don't have them already. All in all, breeding can be tedious, but it's not as bad as it seemed there. The dodo or phiomia on this hand however have much lower weight and they don't mature nearly as quick as you'd expect (especially the phiomia it sounds) so you are hand feeding forever as they have very little weight as well. Their weight goes up so quick that you really only have to be standing there for about 15-30 mins or so and you will get a decent buffer time to go out and farm/build your wall etc before having to come back and refill the food. The only downside is you need a decent amount of meat, but if you are breeding rexes you should have the ability to do that. Out of all the breeds, I think Rex are one of the easiest to be honest. Make sure you have food available and don't incubate eggs if you have anything else to do. You need to put the food into their inventory directly for them to eat. They have low food capacity and starve extremely quickly as you have noticed. A higher weight dino will be able to take much more food much sooner. 1 Answer Sorted by: 8 Baby dinos in ark need to be fed by hand until they reach 10 growth. A lot of it comes down to consumption and their weight. You might think a dodo is the easiest to breed, but alas, that is just not the case with Ark. How to feed a Dilophosaur in ARK Once you have tamed your Dilophosaur, it is important to know what it likes to eat. To keep the Dilophosaur down and the Stun up, use Narcoberries or Narcotic. The better the meat, the faster the taming. OH and a very large wall to buildĪs others have said, the phiomia was just a bad choice unfortunately. How to tame him: Once he’s unconscious, put meat or kibble (recipes below) in his inventory and feed him that. I have rocks to pound wood to cut and dilos and raptors to kill and eat. As much as I love breeding animal type games. Oh well I am not setting on the game staring at a baby feeding it every few minutes. being mammals We originally thought they fed from mom but did not realize they required quite more care than a real baby. If you’re not sure whether you’re taming a Carnivore or a Carrion, just try feeding it Cooked Meat - Carrion won’t eat Cooked Meat.Reason for phiomia they were there. Carrion – The scavengers of the ARK enjoy the exquisite taste of Spoiled Meat in their diet above all other meat.Use Raw Meat if you can’t get yourself any Prime Meat. Cooked Prime Meat is only worth half of its Raw counterpart, though it lasts an outstanding 45 minutes in a non-preserved inventory. 10 minutes in a dinosaur inventory, but that’s still a relatively short amount of time, which means there’s really no way to prepare it before taming unless you cook it. There’s just one issue: it spoils 2 minutes after collection in a player inventory. Carnivore – Nothing is better than Raw Prime Meat for a Carnivore. The difference in time is negligible, because there’s no great way to tame a Herbivore in the ARK‘s current state. Many people argue that other berries/vegetables make certain dinosaurs tame faster than Mejoberries, but this is simply untrue. Herbivores – The Mejoberry has the highest affinity gain than any other berry or vegetable in the game. Each dinosaur archetype has a particular food item that will raise its Affinity towards you faster than others. In ARK: Survival Evolved, there are 3 archetypes of dinosaurs as far as food goes: Herbivore, Carnivore, and Carrion.
